TB311 Rev 4 β Update CNC11 to CNC12
How to upgrade from CNC11 Software to CNC12 software This is necessary if the user wants to use the virtual control
panel or the Wireless MPG
Requirements
1 Windows 10 PC configured for CNCPC duty and meets the minimum PC performance specs found here
http //www centroidcnc com/cnc_pc_performance_requirements html
2 The l atest Centroid CNC12 installer for use with Oak Allin1DC and MPU11 here
http //www centroidcnc com/centroid_diy/centroid_cnc_software_downloads html
3 If you plan on using the new Virtual Control Panel A touch screen 1920x1080 LCD display
Special Cases and Rules Most CNC12 upgrades are quite quick and simple to do there are a few exceptions
β’ All CNC11 Centroid Standard and Custom PLC programs are supported βas isβ and will function with CNC12 as
they did in CNC11 with no additional work needed A simple βrestore reportβ will install the CNC11 PLC program
into CNC12 automatically
β’ All CNC11 PLC programs do not support the new wireless MPG funtionality
β’ All Centroid standard CNC12 PLC programs do support the new wireless MPG
β’ If upgrading to CNC12 and wireless MPG support is desired there are two scenarios to gain wireless functionality
with CNC12 1 Determine if the CNC11 PLC program is a Centroid Standard PLC program OR a customized
PLC program If it is a standard PLC program then the CNC11 to CNC12 upgrade with MPG support is simple
2 If the CNC11 PLC program is a custom program and wireless MPG support is desired the custom PLC
program will have to be edited and recompiled to support the new wiresless MPG
β’ Older systems running CNC11 versions before v3 06 must be updated and run with CNC11 v3 06 first Once the
control has been initialized using the v3 06 software at least once CNC PC can be updated to the latest CNC12
Software Contact support support@centroidcnc com to request the v3 06 installer

Update Procedure
1 Start with CNC11 open and at the main screen Press F7 Utility F8 Option Look at the MPU PLC program
listed If the program has allin1dc basic or oak basic in the name this is a Centroid Standard PLC program If
Basic or Standard is not part of the name this is a customized PLC program The Centroid Standard PLC
programs included with CNC12 contains support for the Wireless MPG For custom or customized PLC programs
that require wireless MPG support Centroid can add the Wireless MPG logic for a fee Send an email to
support@centroidcnc com for more information
2 Hit ESC on the keyboard and press F7 Create Report A prompt to save a report will appear Save a report to a
convenient location such as βC \Users\CNCuser\Documentsβ where βCNCuserβ is the user name on the console
3 It is also recommended that a backup of C \cncm or C \cnct is made Copy the original cncm or cnct directory and
paste to another location such as a USB flash drive This will serve as a complete backup of the working software
and any Gcode part programs Having a complete copy of the original cncm or cnct directory will make it simple to
revert back to the original running configuration and/or extact individual files or information about the original
installation if needed
4 Hit ESC to the main screen in CNC11 and hit F10 Shut Down F9 Exit CNC11
5 Download the latest CNC12 software from the centroid site found here
http //www centroidcnc com/centroid_diy/centroid_cnc_software_downloads html
6 Extract the install folder and run the CNC12 installer The Software installation process is available in Chapter 3 2
of the ALLin1DC and Oak Install manuals http //www centroidcnc com/centroid_diy/centroid_manuals html

TB311 Rev 4 β Update CNC11 to CNC12
7 After the installer has finished installing CNC12 A prompt will appear βWould you like to install a PLC Program at
this time?β Step 1 determined whether the system had a Standard or customized PLC program If the PLC
program installed is not correct the old PLC program can be reinstalled by loading the report from step 2
a For a custom PLC Click βNoβ The installer will close and you are done
b For a Standard PLC Click βYesβ This will open PLC installer This can also be opened as a separate
program by opening βplcinstaller exeβ in the cnc12 install folder

i Using PLC Installer Select Lathe/Mill_ALLin1DC/OAK_Centroid_Standard In this example
βMill_ALLIN1DC_Centroid_Standardβ is selected A preview of the program will appear on right side
Next to βPurpose β The function of the PLC program will be listed If the PLC program includes support
for Wireless MPG and VCP that support will be listed here More information about the PLC programs
and what schematic to choose are listed in Tech Bulletin 312 https //www centroidcnc com/dealersupport/

This report should be saved to a USB flash drive and/or cloud storage Email the report and control serial number
to Support@centroidcnc com for safe keeping Doing this will also keep a copy saved as a sent email This is
good insurance in case something ever happens to the CNC control This also provides Centroid with a report that
can later be used to help with tech support issues
