TB 310 Disabling Windows Updates on CNC11/12 Systems Running Windows 10
Purpose To permanently disable Windows 10 updates so Windows does not interfere with Centroid CNC11/12 software
while operating
Disclaimer Centroid recommends running a CNCPC as a dedicated CNC Control Component As such installing and
running the Windows Update Disabler is advised as Windows Updates have the potential to interfere with communication
between Centroid CNC software and the Motion Control hardware If you use the CNCPC as more than a dedicated CNC
Control Component please consult your Network Administrator for best practices while using the Update Disabler
Required Windows update defeater
http //www centroidcnc com/centroid_diy/downloads/dwus/DisableWindowsUpdates zip
Procedure
1 Download the zip file from Centroid with the Windows update defeater
http //www centroidcnc com/centroid_diy/downloads/dwus/DisableWindowsUpdates zip
2 Copy the zip file into the CNCM directory and extract the files into the folder
Note When you unzip the zip file make sure the files go into the CNCM folder and not some other folder
3 Once unzipped you should have the following files in the CNCM directory
DisableWindowsUpdate exe
dwus exe
dwus xml
README TXT
4 Double Click on the DisableWindowsUpdate exe file to run the executable
Click on the Disable Windows Update Service button

5 Power cycle your system Once the control has booted back up into the Centroid software press Ctrl+Alt+Del and select the
Task Manager Confirm the dwus exe is running in the Background processes
6 Once you have confirmed the process is running close the Task Manager The Windows update defeater is now installed and
running
